A Visit to the Producing Area──Techniques of Farming, Fishing, and Salt Making along the Coast of Chiayi / Colorful Culture Revival of Salt Industry

A Social and Cultural Survey of Rural Taiwan, Branch Project 2: Lecture Notice

In the summer of 2020, Jewel Tsai, the food writer, published a two full page article on the supplement of the United Daily News titled “Travel around the World: Food in Budai, Chiayi and the Local Culture” (走跳世界,布袋食材與風土紀行), which has evoked heated discussions. In this lecture, Meng-mei Shen and Jiung-chiau Tsai, who have devoted themselves to the local culture in Chiayi for many years, will lead us to experience the products, culture, and local flavors of Budai, through techniques of farming, fishing, and salt making.
