Introduction

This book contains the diary left by Lin Ji-tang (1874-1922), a Taiwanese gentry from the Wufeng Lin family. Lin Ji-tang, given name Chao-hsuan, style name Ji-tang, is an elder cousin of the political activist Lin Hsien-tang (1881-1956). He enjoyed a good reputation for his contribution towards local charity. His diary, in which only the first part of the year 1915 and 1916 left, records his daily routine, hobbies, social network, family members, and interactions with Japanese officials and local police officers.
