As the final installment of an oral history series on culture and society in rural Taiwan, this book contains 26 interviews (about 350 thousand characters in total) of people from various types of villages around Taiwan. In addition to men and women in farming, fishing, animal husbandry, the interviewees also include village heads, teachers, hydraulic workers, and cultural preservationists. These personal life stories offer glimpses of the transformation of agriculture and rural lives in Taiwan, as well as rural communities’ difficulties and their hope for the future.
